New Amp=odd buzzing
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 7:46 PM
I just installed a new Amp for my speakers, i had an old hand me down mono amp before but i upgraded to a 600watt four channel amp. My SPEAKERS make a buzzing sound when i just have the front OR rear speakers plugged in and when i have all four input plugs in it hakes a buzzing and a chirping sound. This sound has nothing to do with my volume control, the sound it just as loud at any level or mode (ipod, cd, radio). Also the higher RPM my car runs at the louder the noise is. The amp is brand new and it is EXILE.

How long is your ground wire, what gauge wire are you using, what is it grounded to?

Do you have the RCA's running on the same side as the power wire?

I got is sounding great, my friend who helped me install my system originally ran the rca's for the subs and rear speakers down the same side of the car to save time because my girlfriend was getting pissy. I ran a new rca straight through my car to test it and it works great, once i have some spare time i am going to take out the abandoned wire and move the sub wire and new rear wire to the opposite side. can i run the RCA cables with the front speaker wire or does the wire go with my fat power cord.

don't run your rcas on the same side as your power cord. there's a good possibility you'll just get more buzzing again.

Im not running rca cables parallel to my power line anymore, but they are running with my amp-speaker wires, im wondering if this will cause any distortion.

it shouldnt, the amperage from your speaker wires is way lower than your power wire. although depending on your rca cables (twisted shielded, from the dollar store...) it might

"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

If you have good RCA's, it shouldn't make a difference. Sounds like you were getting alternator noise due to a ground loop from a bad ground.

Did you sand paint clean on your ground point?

The problem is fixed, thanks for the help guys. I had my rca cables running with my power. my grounding is ok, but far from perfect. Thats my next project, my power/ground is weak and sloppy due to second hand wire.
