Quick question, since the Optima people did not included our cars in their website, i was wondering which battery I should get. All they all the same?(yellows) do they come with the connections in the front for GM cars? can you pin-point some specs so i can just go to the store and get one?. My battery is almost dead.
thanks.

not sure of model # but just make sure you get one with the side ports to screw into.
look around at other batteries also I know my Stiger SPV 55 is a hell of a lot better then my optima ever dreamed of being
Just make sure its dual Post(top and Side)
I think you need a d34/78
But dont quote me on that...
yup, i also think its the front + side post D34/78. I bought my yellow back in 03 and have yet to have a problem with it, even when I discharged it completely (by mistake)

- Sold my beloved J in April 2010 -
i had a yellow in my old car(cuz i had a system) and it was by far the best battery ive ever used, always started in -30 without being plugged in, id leave my system on alot with the car off in the summer heat and never had any problems...
i now have a red top in my new cavy and its been just as good as my yellow top, i dont have a system so thats why i went with the red top this time around...

i who have nothing but the comfort of my sins...
after selling optima batteries, and having 8 out of the ten i've sold come back inside of 7 months, i wouldn't ever own one for the price.
car audio noob since 1984.
have mine same one for two years, no problem, the problem is the stupid people who abusive them, its still a battery!!!
i have 10 stinger SP800 batteries am looking to sell some you can use them as top post and side post but located on the top.
i had to return my red. i bought it last year, sent the car to paint then it was dead. i have a brand new one now tho.... we'll see how it goes that time
yeah, 34/78. Both my J's hate Optimas...
I've had two in my cav for going on like five years now. one I've completely deep cycled and everything. Once I get moved into my house and rebuild I will have about 8 or so of them in there lol.

Soooo.... Optimas are not good huh? so what's all the buzz about them then?

my red top died on me one winter and I got it replaced and haven't had a problem since( been 2 years)
Optimas are generally considered better because they are guaranteed not to leak. You can mount them upside down. I worked at an auto parts store that sold them, never had one come back.

when they came out they were great, pretty much the only option besides your standard battery. they were sealed. u can mount them anywhere, with a yellow top if you drain it down you can recharge it and its fine, can do that hundreds of times. drain a standard battery and recharge it and the battery is at half life. do that again and the battery now only holds about 1/4 the original charge. so that is a bid deal if you have a big audio system that drains batteries. but after 10 years or so allot of other companies have come out with batteries that do the same thing, some even better. and lately optima's quality has dropped. although im on my 3rd yellow top without ever having a single problem. there are allot of people having issues with the batteries.

i bought a red top a few years back and my stereo tore it apart. well, i had alternator issues which lead to the batteries death, but my friend has it in is GTP and he has absolutely no issues. i bought a yellow top 3 or 4 years ago and i've had no problems with it at all. i live in minnesota too and i drive my car in winter and it starts fine, even in the middle of the winter. i have upgraded stereos so i'm running 1300 rms with one 15 and yeah my lights dim and everything, but that's no battery issues. i wear and tear on the battery and it has yet to fail me. my car starts every time even when i play my stereo while my car is off and the voltage drops to 10 (or sometimes lower) and the car starts just fine.
^^^^ Your red top died b/c of your stereo. Yellows are the "stereo" ones b/c of that deep cycle ability like sndsgood said.

i love my optima batteries, they have saved my ass quite a few times when alternators quit on long trips. i found a good deal on them, posted it in this forum
