Hello. I have a 2003 base Sunfire sedan. It has the most basic CD player, and the uplevel sound system that comes with the CD option (has door tweeters).
I plan to put a Monsoon MP3 deck in it, and what I'm wondering is:
A.) It will just pop right in, correct? Like I know it will fit, but will it work with what's in the car currently?
and
B.) What would it take to do a custom Monsoon setup in my car? Like have the Monsoon 6x9s in the rear, the new deck in front, and the OEM Monsoon amp. In my other Sunfire, I did the same (it's a 98 SE), but with the OEM head unit, Monsoon 6x9s and a Pioneer 4ch amp. I was thinking of going more OEM this time, if possible.
If this is a wiring nightmare, I'll just do it with an aftermarket Pioneer amp or something identical to my other Sunfire.
I just don't know where to start looking to do this though. I was thinking of just getting the OEM Sunfire/Grand Am/Alero amp off eBay with the harness and going from there, but my question is:
How much work is it really? And, more importantly, is it 'do-able'?
Thanks a bunch!
do-able -yes
wiring nightmare - yes

Agree
Plus you will have better sound and quality.
The monsoon head unit will be locked of course.. requiring a dealer to unlock it.... it should be do-able... however converting fully over to monsoon would as said be a nightmare and you're most likely better off to just upgrade your stock speakers etc...
