12's sealed vs 10's ported
Wednesday, November 28, 2007 6:03 PM
Ok so my friend wants to upgrade to 12's and I'm thinking about trading him my 12's in a sealed box for his 10's in a ported box, we box have the same subs memphis audio Thunder from the gods (i know they are old) but he has a 3rd gen and I have a 2nd gen and i can't tell a difference when i'm inside the car that much but we have different setups....my ? is this, which will give me the cleaner, deeper sound with less distortion, i'll be runing my same amp DUAL 460w bridged in my trunk. Any thoughts would be great,

I don't know j-body's yet........but I will!

All depends on what his box size is and port size. It could sound a little better, could sound the same, could sound like crap. I'm guessing it's going to sound about the same until you get a better amp.

how the boxes were built we decide wich plays louder, deeper, smoother, more accurate etc. etc. etc.

thanks guys, i hooked up the 10's in my car and it sounds a little cleaner not much louder but definitely cleaner, so I think i'm going to make the trade.
