Whats your DB level?
Friday, November 30, 2007 12:36 PM

Im more interested in what power your amps putting out, not what it says on the amp but the Actual.

For instance, I have a Rockford Fosgate 250m, 276 watts is what it peaks at

DB level I got was 142.6

1 15 inch Rockford DVC

Im just interested as I run less than 500 watts, and I see people advertise
there setup at 2000 watts and such and I doubt they are much louder than mine.
As mines not much fun to listen to at max for more than a minute or so.

Just interested

hey man get your flame suit as will i. but any way i run a infinity 200watt amp to 2 10" speakers hand made from toby speakers and a toby box and im putting out 143 db. but go figure its laughed at. but yeah thats my amp and numbers. and no you do not need all the watts to power all the speakers. as long as you get a speaker for that amp it will sound killer. plus the box makes a huge differance. and what kind of speaker and box in a car. changes everything up

You guys need to tell what mics your being metered on, that makes a huge difference not all mics are as accurate

Termlab is usally the standard. Also mic placement is very important, there are different location for different contest.

lets see an orion 2500d is rated at 2500 watts but really does closer to 2800. multiply that by 4. and put each each one to a digital designs 9515. that should put it at a 155 ish on the termlab. once I get moved into my house and can rebuild it.

Like stated above, it depends on your mic.

Also there are a few ways to measure wattage. Lesser companies (Sony Xplods, Phoenix Gold Tantrums, etc) may rate there amp at being "2000" watts, which could potentially happen if lightning strikes, the planets allign, hell freezes over, and pigs fly; for the duration of one single bass note. There is also high frequency ratings and high current ratings.

My 4 amps = just over 2200 watts.

I will bet Minetti's old dash, Jason's painted engine, Nate's 2500d's, and my Kenny Rodgers - The Gambler 8 track that it was metered IN THE PORT. With a Fisher Price microphone.

The man has doubts, let him. There's a small handful of us who truly run over 2000 watts, and trust me, you know once you start to hit the 140's at the dash.

Man, i got 2 kenwood 10's in a sealed box, pushing 150w each. Let me tell you, 7db and rockin.

I wouldn't rape my car with that much power, i do it for sound off quality music. Which, btw does not require that much volume.

It is kick ass how loud you guys systems are. how much does 2000+ Watts set you back?

i mic'd mine myself with the scosche spl meter i bought a few weeks ago (made a post about it a little while ago on here entitled "My new toy"). i know its not the most accurate, but its a half decent refference.

i mic'd it at:

- my chest while sitting in the drivers seat = 119 db

- between the front seats, arm resting on the center console = 121 db

- directly infront of my port of my box = 125.3 db

i have a 10" visonik sub DVC with 2x 30W rms going to it as well as 2x 30W rms going to the fronts.
the sub is in a 4th order bandpass box aswell, which netted a gain of abou 3 db being in that type of box and properly built to tested specs. thats basically doubling my power right there as doubling the power of your amp only adds 3 db by rule of thumb.

like i said, im not expecting it to be extremely accurate, but i would figure its capable of hitting between 118 and 122db, depending on the song playing and position of the mc.
