6.5 component door panel fit question
Friday, October 05, 2007 6:05 PM
ok I got some candance 6.5 components, used some 3/4 mdf to make adapters.
2 issues, speakers back barely clear the window. (I had to take the rubber cover off the magnet) but at the very bottom there might still be a bit of touching.

the 2nd issue, is the door panel doesnt fit perfect any more. do I have to trim the crap off the adaptor to be just barely bigger then the speaker?

or is that just the way it is?

I put 6 3/4 in my doors, the door panel will not fit tight without modification (sanding a little, or whole removal and addition of speaker cover). As for Depth, how deep are they? you have barely 2 inches maybe 2 1/4 or less inches behind the metal, not a lot of room for these bigger speakers.

I have Morel 6.5" speakers in my door...

You do know that stereo shops sell adapters so you dont need to make your own right??

I have heard some thicker speakers like Type R's won't fit in all car doors though without modification....

id much prefer mdg over the cheap plastic adapters. youlle most likely have to trim that ring as much as u can and see wehre your hitting, also you can modify the frame rail and push it back a 1/4" or so without much problems.

MDF is only $3 at Home Depot. Those adaptors are 20 or more, and I have mine in 10 minutes (as thats as long as it takes to cut them out).

use MDF, i got infinities and they fit perfect. The magnet on the speakers is small and the door panel fits no problem
