okay so i got a stock cav cd player with the six cd changer off an 04 05? but it doesnt have the stock wiring harness plugged in there and i was wondering if there is a place were i can order another stock harness brand new? also i know as a safety type thing haha the cd player should lock and not work unless a code is entered right? i just wanna know if this happens before i go and buy a harness and for it not to work.
Let me see if I understand what your saying..
You have an aftermarket deck in your car right now, and you wan't to install a stock one that you found, only to find that whoever installed the aftermarket one just hacked up your wiring harness instead of using an adapter.... is that right?
If I am (which I don't know for sure yet). Just about the only thing you can do without going to an extreme amount of work would be to find a car like yours at a junkyard, pull the stock stereo out, and cut out the stock harness and plug leaving enough wire to work with, then when you get back to your car, just color match everything.
If I remember right..... you can order a new harness through GM but I think the wires go a long ways and split off in different directions wich means a lot of work.
As for the security thing.... I don't know because I own a 97 and it's different than yours.
well actually i HAD an aftermarket deck they stole it and when that happened they cut most of the wiresoff so it dont matter if i did the install right or not they just hacked everything up, as for using an adaptor wow i didnt even know they existed for our cars last i checked they couldnt order one here at custom sounds for me. also i would go and get one off a car at a junk yard but seeing how it is the cd changer equipped model is it gonna be the same? i doubt it.
go to best buy and tell em you need a reverse harness for your car....the should have it show em the factory radio for reference...trust me they "should" have it...they do carry reverse harnesses
