Well the stock ones went, big suprise eh? what im looking at is the alpine type s all the way around, 4x6 and 6x9. Whats everyone thing, and what does everyone think about an amp? when i bought the car the factory deck was upgraded to the MP3 one and has the "factory amp" as well. will i need a different amp or what? let me know your input, thanks. id like to keep the stock deck since it does everything i want already and has the door chime as well.
id like to know this as well, although id rather have some kenwoods or something. my pioshiit's just blew the other day. i guess running an mtx 8302 through them and the 6X9's did the dead.
Well guys it is honestly all about how much money you want to spend. Personally I wouldnt recommend the type S because it is one of the very low classes of alpine. If you are going to go with alpine, go with a higher class. Also Memphis audio makes damn good speakers, I would highly recommend them. As far as the factory amp, I would normally tell you te rewire the car and bypass the amplifier because it will only be a pain in the ass. But since you do not want a new deck then I would just go ahead and Leave everything else the way it is. Oh and also keep in mind that you are not limited to 4X6's. You can go by a component set that will sound ten times better than anything and the will fit in the door. I believe the 5 1/4's will fit right in, and with a little work 6 1/2's will fit also, and I know that because I had them in mine. But like I said before it all comes back to how much you want to spend.
im just looking for something better than stock but not super expensive because im not going for super special sound. As for the rear speakers though because they are amped there are 4 wires. how do i hook them up to be amped? i have heard several things about this and never got a TRUE answer. Im supposed to solder something and nobody has told me whats the right way so far. But fronts are blown and i gotta do something.
i guess i dont understand....... you said they are on a factory amp and you wanted to keeop your deck and factory amp....... what amp are you trying to hook the speakers up to?? if you want them on the factory amp, they are already hooked up, if you want them on an aftermarket amp, then you can either splice the wires from the back of the deck and run them to an amp & EQ or just put in a new deck too........ but like i said please clarify a little more and i will be able to help you out.
The stereo in the car is the "factory upgraded" 6 speaker system, not the monsoon or anything just the mp3 deck and tweeters in the front speakers. the rear speakers are amped and have 4 wires going into them. most aftermarket speakers have 2 terminals, so the other 2 are from the amp to the speakers.
normaly, i would be one to come into a thread like this and say, set a budget and all that about getting a sub to pick up the low end, a decent deck with some good on board processing, and a good set of front components, an amp or 2 to power everything accordingly and have a nice decent well rounded set up.... BUT, since you said a couple times you are looking for just speakers to replace the stock ones, no major wiring, or anything like that, and just "better than stock". I would look into having some 3/4" thick MDF baffles made (if you cant make em yourself, lemme know, ill get you in touch with the guy who does all my enclosures and woodwork for car audio), and put some decent 6 1/2 inch coaxials in there. if you are just looking to replace the stock ones. either leave the stock 6X9s or replace those too depending on what you want to spend, but focus on your fronts more than anything, thats where you want your sound coming from and that is where you, the driver, the most important person in the car sits.
So, with all that said, as far as decent coaxials for decent prices, a few I would look into are Alpine's Type-R coaxials, and as much as I hate to say this, because for most things I don't like this brand....BUT Infinity's Kappa coaxials are going to be good stock replacements as well. Other than that, your best bet is to go to audio shops and listen. Speakers can be recomended all day long, but in the end, everyone's ears are different.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Go to WalMart and buy the Xplod 4x6's that they sell. I used them with the factory speaker housing and I'm content. Not the greatest "pounding" but I can turn it up to where I almost can't stand the volume and theres no distortion, so that makes me happy.

I got 5" memphis pr52's in mine.
I got the 4x6 xplod's from wal-mart on clearance for $9 and they sound 10 times better than the stockers... just about anything will sound better than what you got, there's no point going crazy on speakers with the factory set-up pushing it.
