Installing Amplifiers

Hey everyone, i'm attempting my first amp/sub install today with 2 amps (one for 2 subs, and one for speakers), and have a question about the remote turn on wire. What kind of wire do I use for this? My amp kit didn't come with one. Also, I need to hookup 2 amps, so do I tap into this wire and run it to both amps? Or is one amp fine? TIA

I just used a piece of 16g wire i had laying around.
If you've got an after market radio pull it out and theres a solid blue wire usually labeled "rem" or "ant" that is what the remote attaches to, i believe theres a remote wire on the stock units aswell but I'm not positive.
I myself just tapped into one of the wires on the fuse block..... i believe the wiper circuit? but any circuit that is on when the key is turned will do.
As for your questions about having 2 amps, Yes both will need to have power running to them or they will not turn on.
You could run one long one to the first then a wire from the first remote two the next amp. I believe it'll give the second one enough power.
If not just run another long one and tap back into a circuit.

I ran the rcas on one side and the power/remote on other. For the remote use any wire.. lay 1 wire to the back to the trunk then wire 2 single wires to hook up to the amp. As for the stock radio you need to find the ACC 12v wire. Or any power source that turn on/off when you turn the key. It cant be live all the time otherwise the amp will be on all the time.

so I should run a single remote turn on wire from the HU to the trunk and then split it in the trunk to go to each amp? and this would just be a standard 16 gauge wire or something?

yeah, you could use a coat hanger with electrical tape around it if you really wanted. If it conducts electricity, it'll work.

I meant that to be blatantly sarcastic, I guess I failed Sarcasm doesn't translate to text well.

It would work though

ive seen installs where a coathanger wrapped with tape would be an improvement.
