wassup,i dont know what happened to my 2000 sunfire.one morning i drove my car and as soon as i changed gears from park to drive i hear this sound that clicked 3 times and then the check engine light came up.then if i turn off my car and turn it back on everything works fine but as soon as i change gears that light comes on.i took my car to a performance shop and to a shell oil change place, the reason why i went there is to ask them why that light keeps coming up so they took there computer and hook it up to the computer of my car and nothing came up.there computer wouldnt turn on to tell us what was wrong with the engine,we checked all the fuses and everything is fine.i also noticed that i blew my h3 headlight bulb the same time the check engine light came on.i dont know what to do with my car becuase there computers cant read my cars computer and they dont know what the problem is becuase nothingis wrong with my car, everything runs fine.does anyone have any idea of what is happening or has it ever happened to you car?please help me im not sure what to do about it but dont get me wrong my car does run fine.thanks alot
go to a dealership.
car audio noob since 1984.
would they charge me becuase the car is not completely stock the way i had bought it from them?i heard that i dont have warranty anymore after i do upgrades to the car,is that true?
They will do whatever they can to get as much money out of you as they can...or well some dealerships will. The thing is, do not get sucked into their sales pitch and make sure that everything they're saying is true, look for proof. Cause, I had something wrong with my cavi a while back and I took it to the dealership and had them diagnose it. They said that it was the battery, and so they replaced it without even talking to me, hell if I'd have known, I would have asked them to put in a yellow top. lol. But they charged me like $60 for the battery and $90 for labor. DO you know how long it takes to take out the battery??? Like three f@ckin seconds. And then they said that they wouldn't give me my car back until I paid for the service. They wouldn't even take the battery out and let me put it in, they said that it's their time, so it's my money basically. So be very careful and make sure to read all fine print, cause if it's your tranny, then that can start to really cost you especially if they decide that you need a whole new one when there's only a messed up mount or something. But anyway from what you're talking about, it could be electrical, in which case the clicking sound you said could be a relay clicking probably showing a short in the system. Or it could be anything from the flywheel back to the tranny...Or logically it would be. If the clicking is comming from the engine bay, pop the hood and have someone stand there next to your car (NOT in front of it) and bring it into park so they can see where the clicking is comming from. Hey, it's a start.
the dealership has to prove what you did to the car is what caused it to mess up. Its called the moss magnuson act. read up on it and be ready to duke it out with them. As soon as you mention you know the moss magnuson act they should start to look worried.
cool thanks for all of your advise, imma check that out.ummm today i went back to the performance shop becuase now im hearing this whitsling sound next to the engine on the passanger side.the sound comes on when i had 2000RPM and gets louder as the rpm goes up.it kinda sounds like i have turbo even tho i dont but the performance shop says it deals with the power steering so0o tomorrow there gonna look at my car again to tell me exactly what it is.do you think the service light was on becuase this whole power steering was starting to take affect?well imma check back with them tomorrow and imma go back to the dealership as soon as i can and imma make sure they dont do anything to my car to make it worse or for them to charge me for anything.im also sorry to hear how they charged you 90 bucks to install a damn battery,i dont like car dealerships becuase they always charge $100-300 more than what they should be charging.but thanks for all the help and ill write back ASAP
