Good system for around $900cad??
Sunday, May 27, 2007 3:00 PM
Hey, im looking to set up a nice sytem for around $900 CAD (little more is ok), im looking for hard hitting bass, but i want it to sound good too. I dont want rear speakers. Im thinking components upfront, but i dont know what else ill need. Can you suggest some brands (and if you feel like it, specific models?) Thanks for any help you can give, also, do we still get the forum discount from Elemental Design? I wouldn't mind grabbing 2 15's or something

for speakers i would run a set of infinity reference with a set of kappa tweeters and power that with a rockford fosgate 200.2 or 400.4

I spent about $800 US on mine.

Kenwood "Tornado" 12" Subs$120/pair
Kenwood 0469 Excelon Deck $230
Kenwood 450-Watt Sub Amp $200
Pioneer 3-way 6X9's 200-watt $120
Pioneer Co-Axiol 120-watt $80
Kenwood 4-channel amp $75

It's loud as hell, clear as day, NOTHING over powers the other. it's fine tuned and sounds great.
Surrounding cars don't just hear "boom-boom-boom", they hear the vocals and know who sings the song.

I like to buy cheap stuff and power the hell out of it. If it distorts, fine tune it so it doesn't...basic rule of thumb.
Most of what I buy is "discontinued", "last one", or "Floor model". My deck and sub amp were brand new, everything else wasn't.

I got pulled over just the other day. Cop was 4 car lengths ahead of me, windows shut and he says his radio was on, and he could hear me over his own radio, and I was shaking his mirrors. I laughed, apologized for laughing, then told him I thought that was pretty impressive. He let me off with a warning. Imagine the poor guy in front of me...
