Help With aftermarket cdplayer

Hey im new here.. and ive read most of ur stuff on here too bad i didn't see this stuff before...well i have a 01 cavalier and im trying to put a cdplayer.. I know u should use a wire harness but i went to all my local stores and they didn't have any for the 01 now a good friend of mine that has done its this way many of times..is helping me.So as u can tell im having to cut into the wires and try and match them on my cd player.. OK 1 i cant find the power wire for the cd player its red on my cd player but no red one in the factory wires. and i have 2 black wires i know one is the ground but what is the other one. Most of the other wires are all set. So idk if some one could post a wiring diagram that would be great cuz i cant seem to find one for free they all want money. And one last ques i can do this right if i hard wiring the cd player in right??Just gotta find the right wires... Well i guess im trying to say is all the wires i need for the cd player right there were my radio came out.. And yes im sorry guy this is probably the worst way of doing this but i don't really car about my car that much any more shes got 205 thousand miles on it and its still going strong. The radio finally got to me and i got a nice system if i can just get the damn cdplayer in there.

00+ Gm cars don't have a turn on wire... you gotta get that power elsewhere. Try the wiper fuse, or the accessory wire in the ignition harness.

ok so wat is the orange wire there...idk this is dumb i hate gm.. well the 00+ cavs. This shouldnt be this hard to get it working... and also how did radio get power.I dont care about not being able to turn it on without the car going. So are u saying that i cant get it going even when my car is on.Because i dont get that if the radio got power.

Just got another ques.If i connect it to this constant +12v will my cdplayer be on when my car is actually running...and will i be able to turn my cdplayer off when i turn my car off.But if i only need a switched 12v just to be able to turn my cd player on when its in acc but not actually running.. well that really doesn't matter.. cuz i don't want it running when my car isn't on cuz i know my amp and stuff will drain my battery. But what is said first in this post then i think i will be ok.

tap into your wiper fuse and run it to the acc. wire on the unit

The Red wire from the deck has to go to a switched 12v+, yellow to constant 12v+. The 00+ GM cars (and 03+ GM Trucks) had the radios turned on via BCM, using GM's "Data Bus" system. No Wire exists at the radio end for a switched 12v+. A CD player uses the yellow wire for memory (presets and what not), and the red wire for turn on(ignition). One of the correct harnesses to get it to turn on without having to find an external 12v+ switched is Scosche's GM09 harness with factory chime replacement module.

To get to the Ignition harness, you have to remove the plastic around the steering wheel column... i believe it's 4 7mm bolts on the underside, and of course twist off the tilt lever if you have one. The ignition harness is on the left side, orange wire is accessory.

Just wondering. Is the orange wire a 12v constant? If it is does it still have power when the car is turned off? Also if it doesn't then which one of the red wires is the 12v constant?

well id like to know the same thing. cuz im gonna go into my fuse box to get the switched 12v.. but i need to know one more important thing..Ive got 2 black wires i know one is the ground but idk which one and i don't want to hook it up to the wrong one.Cuz i heard if u do the wrong one a warning light will come on and then it will fry my computer..i wish they were both grounds. But its really hard to tell which one is and isn't.

in the ignition harness, orange is switched, and red is constant 12. But you should have just gotten the tracker harness and save yourself alot of trouble. directechs doesn't have a wiring diagram for the 01 (because no one cuts it up anymore) but for an 04 (which i believe is teh same, this is it

Radio 12v orange + radio harness
Radio Ground black - radio harness
Radio Ignition (Class 2 Serial Data)
Radio Illumination gray (dimmer) + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on pink + radio harness or amplifier
Power Antenna N/A
LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness

Remote turn on wire (blue with white stripe) Is used to turn on an amp, so if you don't have one, just cap it off right now. There is no radio ignition wire because it's the Class 2 Data Bus. Just use the wiper fuse or the orange wire at the engine harness.
