GAUGE CLUSTER LIGHTING

just wondering how to access the the light bulbs in the gauge cluster? im about to remove my dash for weight reduction, and want to try to avoid having the airbag light on. any help would be great

You have to remove the dashpad bezel that goes around gauges and cd player/hvac then the 2 bolts on the cluster its self. There are tabs along the outside of the cluster that should take off the front plexi and rear cover. You need to remove the needles(not sure how), Then there are 6 bulbs in there plus the mileage readout

be careful when removing the needles though, I've read that you can pull the metal pole on the needles out of the little motor that moves them and then you're screwed. If you're doing it by hand, then it's a coin toss whether you break it or not. Get a special tool for the job, I'm sure there's one out there for that.

Do it the cheap way, put a small piece of black electrical tape over the airbag light. Its a ton safer and easier than trying to mess with de-soldering the surface mounted LED that illuminates it.

just cover it , its just an led, and if the gauge has a malfunction with the leds, say hello to the service light haha, trust me, just pull the needles off, (VERY SLOWLY by the black circles) then peel back the overlay
