using an amp with factory head unit

I have a '04 Cavalier, and I'm going to be installing an amp to power a set of components. I've done a bunch of searching around here, and have found answers to most of my questions, but I still have a few unanswered questions. I want to use the factory head unit because I have had a few aftermarket ones stolen in the past. From what I have gathered, I need a switched 12V source, but there isn't one in the factory radio harness. Where is the best place to tap into for this? I also know I need a line out converter - what are the best wires to grab for this? Finally, since our batteries aren't post style, what is the best way to attach the power wire to the battery. It's 8 gauge if it makes any difference. This is my first time installing an amp, so I'm sorry for the newb questions. Thanks in advance for your help!

wiper fuse, grab the spekers wires for the rear speakers, splice the LOC into those wires

and i just used a 4 guage ring terminal for the battery, but i also have 4 guage wire

youll want an 8 guage terminal

To get a switched 12v you can tap into the wiper fuse but if you do that you might want to install a toggle switch. because if your driving around with your cd player off it will still be on (amp).

Use the rear speaker wires. They are easily accessable and they will be close to your amp.

you need a GM side post adapter adapter for you battery

you can also use these

I have the factory amp on my rear speakers. I took a look at it yesterday to see which wires I should use. It looks like there is one plug that goes into the amp, and the wires for the speakers split off the plug. Since there are four wires for each of the rears, which wires should I use?

You might want to tap into the wires behind the head unit then. Beacuse the 2 sets of wire are 1 for the tweeters in the rear and the onther are for the mids

Do you happen to know what color they are, and which one is positive and negative?
