So when I was mocking up my tweeter pods I had placed them too high and closed the door, damaging one of the tweeter grills.
No the damaged tweeter plays much louder than the regular one. I know this because the imaging was very right-oriented with these tweeters, then I swapped in some other brand-new cheap tweeters and placed them in the same location and the imaging went to center.
Why would a damaged grill make the tweeter louder? A different magnetic field? I have no idea....
which side was the damaged tweeter on?
the high frequencies that tweeters play is very directional. it is possible that the damaged grill was causing the direction of the frequencies to change and possibly even some of them to be reflected in another direction.

damaged one was on the right (loud) side.
