dvd in glovebox
Monday, March 19, 2007 1:54 PM
I installed my dvd head unit in my glovebox and now it is a pain in the posterior to adjust when a passenger is in the car. I have a spare glovebox door and was wondering what the best way to mount the head unit would be.

Maybe it's just me but wouldn't it be smarter to mount the headunit where the headunit goes....???

There is now a TV there, and i wanted to do something a little different. The HVAC could have been relocated but i have had problems with the cable in the stock location and i didn't want to worry about the new longer cable breaking or generally screwing up. I was thinking of relocating just the faceplate but that is a risky propostion and i dont want to have my DVD unit turn into a paperweight.

O, ok.
You could always like glass something under the bezel but above the center console or what about the armrest. Flush mount it or something or with like a cover over it.
Whatever you do is going to have to be custom.
I'd personally just move the hvac.

if you mean just the dvd player i just took the top of myne and screwd it to the bottom of the dash under the hvac and still can use the storage area.

My head unit has dvd playback so i will have to relocate the whole thing. if i could figure out an easy way to lenghten the hvac wiring and the cable i would just stick it in the glove box.

why dont you take the top vents out seal them off and then fiberglass your unit into that space.

don't want to hack away that pert of the dash. I dont think my fg skills are quite good enough to do that. may just relocate the hvac to the glove box and mount the head unit in the hole left there. i would prefer to make it look somewhat factory as though it was a factory option.

you have to unclip the lines from each knob....it should come out in 3 pieces

thanks, i'll give it a try when i get home from work. Is it the harness that comes out in three pieces and then the cable comes out in one piece?

should be able to move the hvac with ease. first thing u have to do is remove the dash piece the entire thing, when u do that you will see the clips holding the hvac wiring in place and it will pull free. u wont need to extend any wire it should fit fine in there.

i had a similar problem, i couldn't decide where to put the dvd player. i tried the glove box, didn't like. i thought about the hvac spot, but couldn't figure out the damn cable deal. i finally decided to mount it on my roof right infront of the dome light.

I hate cars that dont have soul. You need to realize the need to accesories.--Some HCR magazine add.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
