amp turns on but that's all... suggestions?
Saturday, March 17, 2007 12:42 PM
Okay, last night i was listening to music on my way home and the subs cut out. I looked under the hood and the fuse was blown so i replaced it. (80A fuse with 4 AWG wire) the subs still didn't come on. It was late so i drove the rest of the way home with not subs and figured i'd get to it today.

So today i pulled the subs out (eD 13OV.2) and checked all the fuses on the amp (eD nine.1) all of them were fine. At first when i was checking out the amp, the protect light kept coming on, now no light is coming on.

I set my gains using the gain setting tutorial and I've never had the subs up over the volume i set my gains with.

I'm all out of ideas. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

the same thing happened with my pioneer amp, I brought it back to the shop i bought it from for them to take a look at it (still under warranty). Turns out there was a tiny little breaker switch in a slot on the side, take a look could be the same

protect on an amp usually means that its not using the right amount of ohms. check that first. according to some site ive been reading these subs need to be wired into 4ohms or 1 ohms, ohms wont work. but i would caheck what your out putting with a volt meter, then you can go from there.

Everyone....
*moment of silence*

sorry bro. that's classic dead amp syndrome.

maybe a negative and a positive speaker wire is touching some where.

hook up one speaker at a time. what do the speakers test at. ohms wise? i do believe your amp is has a better chance to be a boat anchor than to play music.

maybe check your speakers if they are blown. if the amp still comes on and the speakers are quiet, maybe they are blown. has happened to me before.
hope iit helps.
