i m gonna be doing this as soon as all my parts get here but, i also had a few questions.....

anyone know how much juice the starter pulls when cranking the engine over??? i need the amps
also im puting in a grounding kit and voltage stabilizer so, should i run a ground up front or would grounding to the chassis be fine??? i figure the grounding kit may not be as efficient if i ground to the body.

other than that i have it all drawn up and im gonna be making an aluminum box for the battery, as well as installing a kicker sx series amp and an L7 sub. and yes i have a cap. 8 farad to boot.
im running 0ga wire to the front and putting a circuit breaker where the batt used to sit.

couple things, your ground wire up front i believe just goes to the battery tray. so if you dont have a battery up front there is no need for this wire at all.

a distibution block is just a block that accepts a large wire with 1-3 imputs and have 4 or so outputs for smaller wires to run to diffrent accessories. these are used when you have audio and need power wires to your amps eq's etc etc etc.

if your running your battery in the trunk. make sure it is a sealed gell cell type battery. regular batteris can emit toxic fumes during use. if you dont have a gell cell type battery make sure your box in the trunk is sealed up and vented to the exterior of the car.

for your voltage kit just ground to the frame of the car. you wont really gain anything by running a wire all the way to your trunk so in essence you'd just be waisting wire.

what i did was grounded the battery tray and battery ground to the holes where the tray once was.....i decided to take out my system...so i just used the wire from the amp matched it with my power wire off the motor and put a bolt and nut through it tightened it up and wrapped it in electrical tape....works fine for me....the i just ground the battery to where the spare tire is...

Back from the dead!!!

Where did everyone mount their ground on the 03's? Also did you have to ground anything under the hood? What size fuses did you use?

As of now all of my lights work but the starter wont crank.

anyone have any issues with keeping their batteries charged? I ran 1/0 to battery in trunk and hooked the battery cable straight to the starter. ground on the chassis. have to get jump started every so often.

^^^ Same Question. I've run into 2 more people other than myself who've had the same problem. Battery just dies when sitting, even with the pos. unhooked.

kinda weird if its unhooked it shouldn't drain unless there is a problem with the battery itself. only thing you could do is use a dmm on it to see if its pulling power, and if it is trace it down.

Well, that's my next step--checking the battery out. It was such a busy season with the shop, car shows and everything else that I never got a chance to. The battery itself is about 4 years old or more, so I guess it's possible. But honestly, I think there's also a wiring problem going on--something I'm just totally missing.
