2005 Sunfire Fog Lights
Monday, March 12, 2007 1:20 PM
I have a 05 Sunfire and put in HID lights..In doing this I had to bypass the DRL...So what I would like to do is use the factory switch in the car to control the fog lights..But I don't want to have to turn the parking lights on ever time..So I was hoping to just hook a ignition lead in place of the factory trip wire to the fog light switch..What I have found is blue is 12 volts out to fog lights.. middle wire is black constant ground. And the last orange is only 7 volts when the parking lights are turned on..then when you turn the switch on it goes to ground for a second then back to 7 volts..So I am wondering do I have to use a resistor to bring 12 volts down to 7 volts or is there another way of doing this any help would be great thanks..Jason

Floating ground... you need to replace the switch you have (momentary) with a switch from a 95-99 Sunfire (actual switch on/off) and wire directly to the fog lamps (or a relay).

The current switch is a pushbutton, pushing it "asks" the BCM to turn on and off the lights... the BCM controls ground to the foglamp relay.

I tried it... had to swap the switch for a real one, not a momentary button.

ive been wanting to do this too, except either have the high beams, or fog lights to come on just like the low beams did with DRL, any possibility?
