Well today I took the dash apart and got the radios swapped... it was a lot easier than I thought, just mostly time consuming. I first put it into ACC mode and it fired right up, thought I was going to get lucky and not have to have it unlocked, but then as soon as i turned the car on "LOCKED". I took it to the dealership and my normal service rep had the radio unlocked for free, so now I'm rockin out! So nice to be able to put like 10 albums on one disc again
It's an '04, LS sport, loaded with everything...except it had the regular RDS deck instead of the MP3/RDS deck. I questioned that as I know sunfires didn't seem to have the regular RDS deck even available in 2004...every decently equipped sunfire had the MP3 deck.
When it was all said and done it cost me $80, door chimes in tact. Seemed to be the easiest way to upgrade the radio.
