Fuse Question
Saturday, March 03, 2007 6:11 PM
I was planning on doing the big 3 so i bought a ANL fuse holder and 150 amp fuse. i am running an 80 amp AGU fuse to my amp and was wondering would running a bigger fuse make my subs more powerful? i also have run 4 gauge wire

running the bigger fuse will do nothing for the power to your subs. if your fuse is higher than the fuse in your amp, a power surge to your amp could blow it. keep the fuse in your holder the same as your amp fuse. hope this helps

If your doing the big three...you are needing to fuse the wire that connects the battery to the alternator. Your fuse size depends on your wire size.

No, the fuse in your amp it to protect your amp. The fuse at the battery is to prevent the wire from overheating and burning up if it becomes grounded. Make sure your fuse is rated for a lower amperage than your wiring will carry.

I'm using 4 gauge with a 150 amp fuse and haven't had any problems.

no patrick nothing would change. rember, the fuse near your battery is there to protect the wire not your amp. labotami has it right kobrah1's post was wrong.
