Alright, about a month ago, along with my new amp, and new car, i built a new box for my woofers...(2 premier 3004's) Well, I decided I would tune it a little higher than my previous box ( I don't know why..I was happy with the sound from the box...) Old box was about 4 cubes tuned to ~27htz. New box is 4 cubes tuned to ~32htz. I seemed to have lost a lot of bottom end. I was wondering if it's the box causing this, or if it would more likely be due to different cabin gains (2g talon now, vs 3g cav before) or cancellation issues. I was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on what might be the cause of this lack of bottom end...It was good before, made my ears feel like they were going to pop...Now it just totally drops off after getting so low...which makes me think it's the box...I'm going to download some test tones to see which sound like what, but for now...this'll do.

I think it has more to do with vehicle and going from a hatch to trunk car.
just going from a hatch to a trunk can take away 3dbs wich would make it basically sound half as loud as it used to be. but theres no way of telling what your losing and where, your saying your losing the bottom end but you tuned the box higher that would generlaly give you more in the spl department but that bottom end should still be there unless your sub just can't handle playing more frequencies wich doesnt seem the case for just 5hz diffrence, their may just be a dip in your car that is eating up a prime frequency that was perhaps enhanced in the talon hard to say without doing some tests and sweeps to see where the old car was at versus the new one.

Well, I went from a trunk, to a hatch (cav old, talon new)...so that should have given me a gain from what you're telling me, which I do notice throughout most of the woofers range. Could it possibly be cancellation from the rest of the hatch, my woofers are pointed up at the glass on the hatch, and its not sealed from the rest of the hatch area in any way. I know, maybe i should be posting on a dsm site, but they all seem like jerks and plus I've been around here long enough to know who to listen to and who to ignore.

From my experiences, having the subs aiming rear with a hatch works wonders. CRX-style boxes (subs up, port rear) do wonders in hatch cars, and they work pretty good in trunk cars as well. Did anything else change, like gains or head unit?
Amplifier, went from a pair of those 1000watt monoblock amps...can't remember the number...to a soundstream PCA2000D. Everything else remained the same

I have the subs facing up and the port facing the front of the car....Maybe I should turn it around and see what happens. I never thought of that. I'll try that when I get home tomorrow and let you all know how that worked.
