AS the title says, my left side speakers do not work on my 96. I just replaced the radio (faceplate to last one was stolen!), as well as the harness connector. So i've eliminated that.
I'm going to troubleshoot tomorrow sometime, but right now im looking for any typical issues here. I searched for a bit, to no avail..
Im hoping its not bad speakers, cause i dont wanna replace them, as im selling it. i'd rather it be a loose/dirty connector somewhere, but only time will tell.
if anyone has any experience with this problem, or just straight up suggestions, let me know. thanks guys.
There's only two wires running from the speaker to the head unit. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out
are your speakers aftermarket or factory? If they are factory you can pretty much guarantee that there isnt a loose connection at the speaker, check behind the radio. I would also pop test with a 9v bat to see if the speaker works may be the radio. Its not that hard to take off our doors anyways.
factory speakers. thanks for the input guys.
the 9v test is first on my list. im gonna apply 9v volts at the harness end (where the radio plugs in). then ill do it at the speakers..from there i can gather my results (broken wire, or bad speaker). it just seems odd for two speakers to go out. the harness right behind the radio is good. i know cause i tested it before i put it in..
I found part of the problem. The "what appears" to be ground wire completely melted at the connector under the dash. So i bypassed the connector, and put in my own wire. still nothing. Im thinking if it made that connector melt to hell and back, its likely that the left side speakers are both blown. worse case, i need to re-wire the entire left side...Now i need to pop test my speak's, if they are good, its time to run some wire...dammit.
...no edit button??
anyone know where i can get the schematics for the audio system online...preferably free?
