HD Radio ready?

So I'm confused about HD radio. The way the commercials advertise it, if you get a CD deck that's equipped with HD radio, your all set, no subscription fee, no extra parts to buy. Well I found a $120 Kenwood CD/MP3 deck that's "HD Ready" at best buy, but since it says "ready" that gives me the idea that you have to buy additional equipment to get HD stations. Also noticed when I hit the FM button, it was indeed, regular FM and not HD FM. Seems kinda pointless if you have the HD tuner to even put a regular tuner on there.

I looked through all of best buy's stuff, couldn't find a tuner for sale anywhere there. What gives?

"HD Radio Ready" means just that. It is capable of HD but you need the tuner for it. My Pioneer is Sat ready and HD ready and I need the seperate tuners. Never did it thought cause I listen to my MP3s. Anyway, since you have a Kenwood I would point you in the direction of purchasing Kenwood's HD Radio Tuner. Probably wont find it at bestbuy or Circuit city. Best bet is trying Crutchfield or anyother audio distributer.

I didn't buy the kenwood I just saw it at best buy and messed around with it. I'm still kicking around what I"m going to do about my stereo delimma. HD would be a nice feature, but I still am more about MP3's and my own music collection. On my old JVC deck I didn't even use the radio, so I'm definitly not willing to pay a pretty penny just for HD.

the jvc hdr1 to my knowledge is teh only radio on the market with the built in tuner so far. we sell them for $149. Most of the companies dont even have the tuners yet for the radios. the jvchdr1 also plays mp3 cd's
