Rear deck rattle (with stock 6x9s)
Wednesday, February 21, 2007 5:43 PM
I tried searching to see if anyone has done this but not much came up. My stock 6x9s actually sound pretty good and hit decently hard for stock speakers. However, the rear deck rattles (or the plastic seat belt surrounds on the deck; i'm not real sure) and that of course makes it sound bad. Do you think if I put some sound deadenor on it would it help with the whole rattling issue? How hard would it be to take off the deck and lay the deadenor on it and would it be worth it? The speakers wouldn't sound bad if all the rattles weren't back there. Any write up on how to take off the rear deck would be great. Thanks

No they don't, go listen to a better car. You think they sound good because you haven't heard anything better

My 03 Sedan Sounds good too.

I replaced the doors speakers and left the stock 6x9's. I put 2 layers of Dynamat Extreme on the rear deck and then put the plastic retainers with the 6x9's back in over the Dynemat, made a noticable difference.

doesn't the back deck rattle because it's just laying there so to speak. the speakers are only clipped in and aren't screwed in securely. i'd def get better 6x9's if you are goin to put dynamat on there.

yea, thats true.....

i got kappas all around....so...u cant exactly say those are bad

but yea, i would deff seguest getting better speakers then stock before you invest in dynamat......and put the dynamat in when you put your speakers in....saves time havin to take all the stuff off...

The 2 layers of Dynamat are to keep the Retainer TIGHT. One layer was still loose. And I figured why not do it Really good 1 Time, that way if I ever install new 6x9's in the it will be nice and ready.

I took a piece of 3/4" angle iron that ran the width of the trunk and bolted it to the rear deck to brace it. I used half inch plywood to space it and keep the metal on metal vibration away. I have absolutely no rear deck rattle what so ever. plus i have a nice place to hide a couple of red neons for my trunk lights.

Whats up people?

Mine stockers rattled. Found that the clip that help it down came loose. Hence the rattle. When I went to replace the 6x9s with my my Kickers, I dynomated and screwed my kickers in from the underside of the hole with a thin layer of mate around the speaker ring. Works like a charm, not rattle, sounds soooooooo much better than stock, especially with new fronts, tweets and the subs. The imaging is so much better. Plus no rattle
