Whats your guys' preference on alarms?
Monday, February 19, 2007 9:00 AM
Im looking into getting an alarm for my car, and Im stuck between whether to get a 4 button remote, or an alarm with an lcd 2 way remote. What do you guys have, and what do you like about them, and what do you prefer?

I like my 2 way a lot, and if you check in the GP I have some remote start packages that come with alarms.

To me, 2 way is a must...

Especially with starting the car when you cant see it...I have tested mine two ways...one way it was over half a mile away on the other side of a hotel and it started...(unfortunettly it snowed by morning and the snow blocked the antenna) and the other was from deep inside a stone building. Although it started both times, it would have been nice to know for sure if it had started. On the alarm side, Id like to know if its going off and I cant hear it, or dont notice it. Plus do you want to check every time an alarm goes off if it yours?

Im a firm supporter of crimestopper, but there are many good brands out there

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

and like Megatron said, alarm or no alarm. If someone is gunna break into your car or steal it, they will find a way. No doubt about it.

i understand thid but i would at least like to be aware of it if it happens. they also provide a little bit of protection also. and not everyone has to know that you have one.

my brother got a compuserv one with 2 way and he loves it. He also got one of the high-power seirons installed on the inside of his car so if someone does get in and set off the alarm its goin to hurt badly.

Guess you should tell that to the thieves in my city. I know two people already that have had their cars taken and never recovered, w/ alarms and all. One of my friends had a 2way, told me it went off at the theater or something, got to his car, no more radio, subs or anything and alarm is still going off. People around here don't really pay attention to a car alarm going off because they don't want to get involved.

Just speaking from experience.

Now what I might invest in is lo jack or a gps recovery software, but I don't have money for that quite yet.

Ummm lets stay on topic....he asked for advice not about ur friend getting his crap boosted at a movie theater. Reason why no one did anything was cause no one wants to get invloved.

Compustar all the way. It went off in my driveway and they was still in the car when i went out there with gun in hand. Shot one in the leg and he wasnt getting far. Cops got there and all was ok. Just had a broken window, Gotta love Texas Gun Laws!
