testing a stock cluster before install
Monday, February 19, 2007 12:47 PM
is there a way i can test the cluster I have to be sure it completely lights up before i tear my dash apart to install? This spring I want to take my dash apart for the last time and I want to avoid getting to the cluster just to find out it's dead and have to take the dash apart again. Maybe someone knows the harness on the back and tell me which wire would control lighting the cluster. Thanks. By the way, it's a 00+ Sunfire cluster

I did a cluster swap in my cavalier and left the dashpad off and drove it around the block to see if it worked.

i'm trying to avoid that, if it's not good, i have to put the other back in and then take it apart down the road again. I'm just trying to be finished with the dash, i'm sick of it being a "work in progress"

Totally understand. It would suck to have to do the passlock again too. I read you couldn't even open the doors doing the relearn so I armed myself with a big cup of coffee and a pack of cigarettes. It took the first time or I'd of probably been climbing out the window. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

I did get a pin out of the cluster and a friend of mine is going to help me and see if we can hook it up to a 12v source and just be sure it powers up correctly. What about passlock? I thought I could swap with no other process involved?
