Hey everyone. I have been driving my sunbird for a couple of weeks now and i can't take the stock system anymore. I 'made' and mix cassette tape and it sounds like ass. My radio stations aren't clear much of the time and the front right speaker has some static of its own.
I wanted to buy a cd/mp3 reciever but i dont want to spend more than a 150 bucks cdn. I was looking at the DEHP3800 In-Dash CD player from 2001 audiovideo. I want clear sound and some bass, listen to a lot of rock. I wanted a deck that will give me really good power when i upgrade my front and rear speakers too. What do you guys think of this deck? the specs are below. Would a more expensive deck sound noticeably more bassier and better than this one? I'm pretty new to audio stuff, i can really use some help please. Thanks for any advice.

That's fine for a budget CD player. Check out JVC and Alpine too, they make mp3 decks for around 150.
what brand would you buy out of the three, pioneer, alpine or jvc?

I've had that headunit for about six months without any problems/complaints. Good for the money imho.
i had an older modle for a year or two,i sent it in once to get fixed under warnty and everything came back good (one of the preamps burnt out)
ohvrolla, can i change the display color to red to match my pontiac interior lighting?
halfj99, thats a nice deck too. I'm going to look into both of them, im going deck shopping tomarrow or wednesday
thanks for all the advice everyone.

I've always had luck with JVC. I went Pioneer on my new system and I hate how "supertuner III" doesn't catch all the radio stations like my other JVCs did. Its all good tho, I usually listen to my MP3 CDs anyway.

No, or I'm too stupid to figure it out, but I'm going with no on this one.

damn.
What jvc decks do you think would be in my price range of around 130. Should i expect much from a 130 dollar deck? The guy from 2001audiovideo said jvc sucks compared to alpine and pioneer, but he didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about.

alot of people like alpine, they make good decks, i like the ease of use of the jvc's over the alpines
the KDG230 should be a good deck for you , its red like you wanted and mp3, it has an aux connector on the face if you have an mp3 player as well..which is very nice
as for which will give you more bass, looking into what voltage the preamp outputs put out, that jvc is only 2.5, the alpine mentioned above puts out 2, incase you dont know this is how many volts the hu will sent to the amp through the rca's, the higher the number, typically the more power it will allow the amp to make
it comes down to which you like the feel of i guess, i think you pay alot of extra $ for the alpine name
You know, I've had really good luck with Panasonic. But they are a bit pricey, as far as I know. This is the deck I have:
Cost me $250 about 6 months ago. It's down to 200 now. I really like it.
In my opinion (note, opinion)
JVC - Okay as far as I know
Alpine - Awesome
Sony - @!#$ty as all hell
Jenson - Do not ever give them a look
Pioneer - My mom has one. It's atleast 6 years old, and still works great
One more thing, if you smoke in your car, I would suggest you get a drop down panel or a motorized one. I smoke in my car, and I learned the hard way that the smoke will get into the CD-Player and @!#$ it up.
I had a pioneer DEH-P4600MP and loved it. It was around 150 when i bought it and I never had any poblems with it. After it got stolen i switched to a kenwood excelon and I absolutely love it. It's a very nice deck.
Well I bought a deck.
The guy at 2001 audio gave me a deal on the pioneer3800mp and i had to buy it. I liked the way it sounded the most compared to the jvc and alpine decks in my price range. I do appreciate all the suggestions but i couldn't turn down the 99 dollar price tag.
I just have a couple of questions. the deck didn't come with the faceplate carrying case, its suppose to have one right?
and for the install i need the gm harness adapter from 94, gm trim piece (do i need to get it from gm?) anything else im missing?

2003 Cavalier 2dr. 5spd
i just read on crutchfield that no carrying case comes with the player.

2003 Cavalier 2dr. 5spd
does anyone know where to get the harness adapter for sunbirds, any if anyone whos what else i need to install my deck?
last questions i promiss.
