Quick question. I just picked up a 1997 Chevy Cavalier LS vert with a tape deck/radio.
Will I need to deal with any sort of passlock system if I put in an aftermarket deck?

Passlock doesn't have anything to do with the radio, so no.

What are you trying to do to the radio? and if your talking about security i think its called theftlock. but if you talking about installing a new radio you dont need the class 2 system integration you just need a wire harness ,antenna adaptor, and dash kit

2000 up runs the door chimes through the radio i never heard of a alarm being run through the radio though.

you could prolly use the same harness your sunbird used. I believe, Don't take me 100%
