Problem with new headunit
Saturday, February 10, 2007 8:30 AM
Hey guys, I have a buddy who just bought a new dvd unit off of the internet. Its a double din, it plays cds, dvds, its touch screen and everything. Now the problem is, we soldered all the connections, everything seems good. The unit wont play any sound. I figured it has to be something i overlooked? Anyone with info i appreciate it.

this is in a saturn redline, im having trouble getting a hold of him for the model and stuff, but it was a ebay purchase. Its not the top of the line, i think more in the middle. Is there anything that typically causes this?

did you cut the factory harness or actually buy a metra harness or somethign from BB or CC? check your speakers to see if one of them is grounded by doing a pop test (tast a 9 volt and put the positive wire to the positive of bat and neg to neg) do that to all 4 speakers seperately

Is there an amp in the trunk that isn't turned on? The top models usually come with an upgraded stereo including an amplifier.. (I don't know the Ion tho.. sorry!). You might need to tie the remote turn on lead from the new deck (blue w/ white stripe) to the pink wire in the factory harness...
