new personal best decibel reading
Tuesday, February 06, 2007 8:09 AM
last night i was pretty excited when i found some more advanced settings on my head unit. so after playing with them for a while i pulled out the meter. (have one in the car) and i got the reading up from 136.3 to 137.5. but i had to run into work before i was late. so needless to say as soon as i got out i had to play with it some more. and i found a better cd a friend had and almost craped my pants when i hit 140.5!!!!!!! not too shabby for a budget stereo. too bad im getting rid of it.

I can't help but laugh, their vehicle is in no way, shape, or form an spl vehicle, and with that said, your meter is almost guarenteed to be very innaccurate.

ph well. thats what i have. i would like to get it done on term lab but the "custom shop" near me had never even heard of it and there arent usually shows near by. and my setup is not exactly what you would call competition level (or even close).

with the meter i have? even still my meter is consistant with the readings. say i test the same car/song multiple times on different occasions it always reads within say 1.5 db. so if its off im still happy that i got that much of a gain.

What jason is saying is your meter could be reading 140, but in reality you could be only hitting 131.

Or he could really be hitting 147!

give the guy a break man, congratulate him and move on.

well the way i look at it even if the meter is wrong i still gained 4.2 decibels because i decided to mess with settings. if someone in ct wants to let me test for free or close id be more than willing to find out my true reading.

I see his point, It doesn't matter what sclae he is using or what mic is used to meter it, he improved a few db's anyway you look at it.

Congrats
