i have a 99 sunfire 2.2 2 dr 5 speed manual trans
i wanna look into a remote starting / security system that can be used frmo a great distance away .....
im moving to an apartment in toronto on the 19th floor ..... i wanna be able to be notified if the car is being bothered ......
i dont know if this is possible from that distance ...... since its also in the underground parking of the building .....
do i need to have power locks ? (cause i dont)
how much will the duel system cost ....
can u actually do a remote starter on a manual trans car ? and have it integraded with a 2 way alarm ?( i think thats whats its called)
whats a good solution if its really not possible ......

Couple of things... Unless you did an ecotec swap, you don't have the eco. just the 2200.

Power windows - spal makes a really nice aftermarket kit for cars with manual windows, or just get the motors and regulators from a car at a junkyard. To take it to the next level, grab a power window switch from a car at a junkyard and wire that in to the kit to make it look stock. I got the spal kit and molded the 2-switch box that it comes with into my sunfire center console.

Power locks - you can get aftermarket regulators for maybe 10 bucks shipped each.

Car alarm - I would suggest a 2 way paging system. I have the Astra 777 and i love it long time. It also has 2 auxillary channels for things such as your trunk and a remote start.

Remote start - there's a few companies out there that make remote starts for manual vehicles.

My suggestion for an all-in-one system is the Omega Max-E with the ECHO 2 way keyfobs. It'll remote start a manual transmission car, and you'll have the 2 way pager feature.

Any other questions? Hit me up.

That'll do nicely. Only thing is are you going to install it yourself? You'll also need a bypass module - i like the PLJX myself. And you'll need some door solenoids - http://cgi.ebay.ca/2-Wire-Power-Door-Lock-Actuator-Heavy-Duty-360-Degree_W0QQitemZ140077476224QQihZ004QQcategoryZ60203QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem grab 2 of those. You'll also probably need relays - get 2 of these - http://cgi.ebay.ca/12-Volt-30-40-Amp-RELAY-4-Wire-SOCKET-Harness-Combo_W0QQitemZ160077041869QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6763QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or get 3 if you're doing a trunk. If you wanna add a power trunk, get this : http://cgi.ebay.ca/Power-Trunk-Release-Kit-Fits-any-car-alarm-NEW_W0QQitemZ230080839208QQihZ013QQcategoryZ33721QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yes, the bypass is to bypass passlock 2, and that's part of the ignition.
