Well i decided i dont want my back seat anymore so i want to make a nice ported fiberglass box for my sunfire..now te question lies in will i lose the loudness from it? like the back and bottom will be made out of 3/4 mdf so it will plug off the trunk but will that be enough and if not what do i have to do? phil
not sure how to answer your question but I like your idea, there is an option, RKsport makes a box to hold four subs and a couplle mid range speakers also, it takes the place of your rear seat, made out of fiberlgass or carbon fiber, I thought I might just run that buy you, but the price is high, may be cheaper to go and build your own enclosure.
my buddy had a speaker wall in the back of his cavalier once, he had 8 12" subs and it was louder than heck! lol
I have a big bastard box in my trunk, fits 4 12's, ported, wangs. I used my back seat area for my amp rack.
i got me a backseat box. dont need no stinking rearview

You and ur "wangin" lmao...Cracks me up every time
And Philly D if you seal the trunk off from the cab with the box you will likely gain volume.

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
i was thinkin about doin the same thing but im just goin to do a wall., you can fiberglass the box into the back seat to seal everything off. by doin that it will sound better to the ear and also get alot louder then havin the sub's face back.
this is how i sealed off my trunk when i was working on mine. 3/4" MDF,"L" brackets and some skrews. then i put sound deadener over it to cover up the small gaps around the edges.

actually its only a shell. you still have to build the box behind it in order for it to work
so im thinking do what du tang did seal off the 6/9 holes or could i run some? and then use expansion foam for the area on the sides..i know there is a bit of area by the hinges but yah..then build the box from there..im not making a wall but itd be nice to have a bit of a trunk for amps and such and display the pretty sub ect lol..anyone make a ported fiberglass box? hard? phil
You'd have to mostly make it out of mdf, and maybe use aeroports and glass them in.
I was thinking of making a back plate...small sides..flat bottom then makeing a slot port on the bottom facing forward and then mount the sub inverted about the port with a mdf ring and make afew braces for it ..phil
