Hey all. I currently have a Pionner
DEH-P480MP headunit and I am looking at buying the
DEH-P680MP. I was wondering if I could simply take out my current headunit and install the new one using my current wiring harness. A tech support rep at Pio said that I would need some "extra wiring and splicing." If anyone could shed some light on this for me, I am pretty new to this stuff, so sorry if I sound dumb
Also, does anyone here own the P680MP? I have the iPod adapter and will soon have the XM digital tuner, and I would like to have full control of my iPod, because the HU that I have now has crippled iPod playback support. Thanks again for the help!
Thanks for the reply Dave. Another Pio rep said I'd have to simply swap the harness that came with the new deck, but I could still use my current harness adapter, which would mean no extra splicing. Apparently the 480 and 680 have the same amp and similar circuitry, so it sounds to me like I wont have to worry about any extra wiring or splicing, simply plugging the harness into the harness adapter and my deck. Does this sound right to you? Thanks again.
Haha definetly. Thanks again man.
