is that like 1" thick mdf?

and with how thick that material is, you probably didn't even need fiberglass for the top part, and are those for 6.5's because most 6.5's need more airspace than that to sound good.

But your glasswork looks pretty nice, just misguided.

its 3/4 mdf with one layer of glass on the back, one top is a stretched out t-@!#$ and one layer of glass and they are for 6.5 but im most likely gonna run some type of 4-way in there cus ill be puttin my subs in the back later.

i aws tinkin of makin a few to sell but i wanna see how these sound first

doesnt look to bad for a first attempt. i'd suggest cleaning up the edges a bit they look a bit ratty, then drilling severl holes in the backside of it to let air escape because as skyler said its going to be to small an enclosure for 6.5"

Might want to check the depth of those vs what speakers you want to install 6.5"s are fairly deep.

I've got the q-logic kick panels in mine. Makes people do a double take because it looks stock

GL your gonna love having some components monted up right.

yeah...does look pretty good for a first glass project, i would also add some resin and glass inside, 1 layer just isnt enough in alot of cases, the pod shouldnt flex or move when you apply pressure to the walls.

heres the fit...

still tryin to decide weather keep it how it is or glass it in place, i added more glass inside and there are holes on the back of the left one, im testing em out to see which sounds better (sealed or holes) but i only got these crapy speakers to test em out now till after x-mas

im still undecided on speakers tho, so far:

eclipse se8365
alpine sps-17c2
sony xs-v1642a

any other sugestions?
thanx for the coments and tips

I think you should scrap the whole carpeting idea and paint it to match your interior plastic pieces...Just my opinion though... Looks a little odd on that plastic trim piece where the carpet starts imo.

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

painting it to match will require tons more work. i'd keep them carpeted until you got some more experience in fiberglassing. not a bad start. i'd suggest waiting till you get your speakers then try your hands and building a new set.

Do you plan on amping the speakers.

Still alot of other option in the $100 price range.

so you plan to run 4 way 4X6 coaxials and 4 way 6.5 inch Coaxials?? i dont quite understand peoples logic... sorry to everyone who might get a response from me right now, but i avoided this forum for a while for some strange reason, and this is a shltty one for me to jump in on at 3AM cuz of my poor attitude late at night lol....
but ok... that will not sound good at all... well... i mean EVERYONE should know my saying on crappy stereo setups by now... so maybe i should rephrase and say it wont sound anything like a decently done set up... i say get u some 6.5 inch components, pop the woofers in those kicks u made, and play with tweeter placement, get a good 2 channel amp running 75-150 watts RMS per channel at 4ohms(most common comp speaker impendance), and call ur front stage done... toss the door speakers all together, spend ur door money on deadening, you would be a LOT happier with the results with this method... how much u looking to spend on front comps and an amp for em? and what you plan to run or are currently running for a sub setup? for simplicity and the best bang for your buck set up to get the best sound possibly for ur money... here is MY suggestion....

remove ur rear shelf speakers, deaden the rear deck, remove ur door speakers, deaden the doors, get urself a good 12 inch sub to start, amp to run it, CUSTOM BUILT enclosure not some ply wood prefab crap, get ur 6.5 inch comps, woofers in the kicks, play with tweeter placement to find ur liking, also play with head unit tuning as much as p[ossible to fine tune the sound u like, cross the comps amp over at about 100-120hz to be fairly safe (on high pass of course), cross over the subs amp at about 100hz(on low pass of course), then just deaden the hell out of the rest of the car as much as u can afford. these are all very vague and general guidelines, but this is what i would suggest for a cost effective, good sounding set up.

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn

^^ Excuse me!!\\

Umm you seem to have forgot. EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT EARS. Your opinion is your opinion. Maybe is sounds great to him. Let him decide. You seem to like passing your opinion off as a FACT. The thing is I agree with you, but that doesn't matter. It is his car and his ears listening to the music, or maybe he just wants it loud. NOT EVERYONE WHO BUYS A PAIR OF SPEAKERS HAS TO COMPETE IN SQ just to post how they built something for there car on JBO..

So just relax and build yourself an AWARD Winning audio set up and be happy.

and I'll just stick with my Overpriced JL AUDIO set up that is Overrated and I'll be happy. It is a WIN / WIN situation.

damn dude thats alot and i cant afford all that for a long while, this was just a lil project to see what i could build with the extra glass i had around and what it would sound like and slowly workin with it for fun till i decide if im gonna be puttin in my 2 12 ive had layin around. just tryin to get better sound that stock if i eventualy get it right then i might move up to components but fundage are really low now

James, deep breath bud lol. I have my days too, but I personaly don't think i was attacking him or being mean at all. I simply gave some suggestions... and I never knocked anyones brand preferences or anything like that either... what was with the random outburst about your "overpriced JL setup"??? Hellooooo look at my name, I'll be one of the few people that aren't so cheap they immediately pass off JL and other higher priced brands as overpriced... You need to chill today lol

I was referring to 99% of the "Know it alls on Audio Forums who think that thier "underground" or "I GOT THIS FOR LESS AND IT IS BETTER THA W7s" comments I hear all the time. What my point was I do my thing, you do yours and so on.

You can't make everyone like your taste and style. I've learned that over the years. Even if they listen to your set up and agree %100 pecent that it sounds Better, Clearer, Louder and just flat out more like music, there will be that friend of yours who runs Audiobahn and only does it because it is cheap or because they don't have the need to be anything but loud and flashy.

Know what I'm sayin?
