i have 3 10's and 1 amp im wanting to start to glass a box but was wondering what some of the ideas that you guys come up with
What are you looking to make... and how much custom are you wanting to do it. I have seen some sick boxes made for our cars. With 3 10s you could make a nice looking box that covers the back seat... or mabey something that would hold the subs right at the entrance into the trunk from the back seat.

5/8?? i wouldnt recomend anything less than 3/4... 3/4 is the norm for custom box fabricators for the run of the mill subs for a reason... its perfect...larger if ur running some odd kinda box, or a W7 or some other very heavy sub, but for just some generic 10s, i would say 3/4 and no less.. why skimp?
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

So 3/4's but what type of wood is used in speaker boxes like - oak, composite board ????

mdf you can usually get a big sheet at lowes for about 20-25 dollars. depending on how big you want the box, you shouldnt need more than 2 sheets. You can use 1 just leave yourself a little room for error. remember measure twice cut once
