Hey Whats up every1... Listen i have a 98 sunfire GT... and i heard that some of the decks u need it always to be hooked up like in ur trunk... do i need to do that for the 98 sunfire?? I think that jus goes for the " monsoon " stereo, im not sure ppl get back to me about this plz, thank u.
You don't need to keep your stock unit hooked up.
here.... do this...
if you want to keep ur door chimes(lights on, door ajar etc..), then get the expensive harness and be done with it,
if you dont care about door chimes, get a 99 geo metro harness, wire ur new head unit up, and call it a day. door chimes is all you lose, as well as the function that allows the radio to stay on while the car is off for 10 minutes or until the drivers door opens
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Shouldn't need a chime module for a 98.... Should be class 1

Class II is only in the 00+.
Go buy a Metra 99-3300 Dash Kit, GM1858 harness and a 40GM10 ant. adaptor and unplug your factory deck and plug in your new deck. Very easy in your car. Should maybe take you an hour if it is your 1st time.
98 doesn't need the GMOS 01, just needs a standard GM harness.
