Dimm Cluster and HVAC lights.

Ever since I got my 97 Cavalier running again I have been needing to put my system back in. So I had some time off work today and deiced to put it all back in. Using the same HU the same wires, the same EVERYTHING. I hooked everything back the way I originally had it. Put my dash back together and tested it out. Everything was working great, I then turned my lights on when I was pulling it out of the garage. My HVAC and Cluster lights were really dimm. At first I thought it was just the light dimmer so I pushed it all the way up and nothing. It was already all the way up. Then I heard a fuse blow and my lights went out. It was the 10A fuse that powers my dash lights. I had only a 15A to replace it with so I just stuck it in there. Lights came back on but where still very dimm. I checked all of my wireing and everything is just fine. Any ideas as to why my lights would be so dimm on the HVAC and Cluster?

Well, my lights all of a sudden just went out. There are no blown fuses anywhere... Could the problem be in the wireling in my stereo? I mean I'm pretty sure that I have everything hooked up right but you can never tell. Could something shorting out cause problems?

if your illumination wire is grounding out then yes. it most likely will cause that problem. make sure none of the wires are touching anything

Illumination wire? I went and bought a new wireing harness and in the wireing diagram it listed an illumination wire. I did not have the wire on my first wireing harness for the stereo. What is the Illumination wire? Is it the wire that gives power to the cluster and hvac lights? If I need it hooked up what do I hook it up to? The wire is orange if that helps any.

I took my dash apart to make sure no wires came undone, or where broken. Everything that I can tell is fine. I pulled every single fuse and all of the fuses are good. I rewired my stereo and made sure no bare wires could ground out. And still nothing. Everything in the car works BUT my cluster and hvac lights. All of my exterior lights work as well, brakes, headlights, corner ect ect. I have tried everything I can think of. Am I just plain screwed?

Any more ideas as to what to look for? My lights are still not working at all.
