I just got one of these when Best Buy had their half priced sale. The parking brake lock out feature can't be bypassed by simply grounding it. Doesn't work with a power source. Does anyone have this, what method did you use? Thanks in advance...
get u a switch of some sort toggle or something similar ground one side and hook the other side to that parking brake wire click it six times i believe and it should work sounds stupid but it works
Yeah, that's probably why when I was switching from wire to wire to see what did and didn't work, it came on when putting it back on the ground. Do you know off hand what wire to tap into, color? Or will any 12v source work?
no u don't want 12v just find u a good grounding point any bolt that goes into the frame like seat bolt or if u feel like running wire go to the battery but u will need a switch it wont work by just grounding it constantly u will need to flick the switch a few times why i don't know but it works

Ok well just so you know, its illegal in most states to have a Screen playing a movie, forward of the drivers seat while in motion....
Now a jensen, well most of them, dont have the extra security like the alpines and pioneer. You should just be able to ground it like to the ground behind your stereo.
However you can test this.
With the head unit out, touch the pink wire to ground with the car turned off. Now turn the car on while keeping the pink wire grounded. If it lets you watch a movie, theres you solution. Splice in and your set. If it still gives you the error. Start the car like normal AND THEN ground the pink wire. if it works then what you need is either a switch or a relay.
Whats happening, is upon startup the LCD unit is looking for ground. if it sees ground then it disables the DVD player. This to keep people from grounding the wire permenently. Putting a switch in between the wire and ground simply makes its so you can turn your car on with the pink wire open and then flip the switch to ground it. Contrary to what people above are saying, you dont have to flip the switch on and off to mimic the pulse of the e brake. All you do is start the car with the switch OFF, and then when the dvd unit boots up flip the switch to on so it grounds and your set.
I went the relay route. All I did was use my Remote Amp lead from the head unit.
Look up Relay diagrams on google if you dont know how to wire one
Ill try to make this simple. You have four plugs on a relay.
85,86,87,30
Hook your remote amp lead to Pin 86
Pin 85 to ground
pin 87 to ground
and Pin 30 to your Pink Wire
All relays have these numbers...well most..
Now whats happening is when your Stereo turns on it looks for ground and doesnt see anything so it see's it as the e brake off.
Then it finishes starting up and turns on your amp leads
That clicks on the relay and allows the pink wire to ground out making your dvd player think the ebrake is on.
Viola
cool i didnt know that but good info my way works its just pain in the butt might have to rewire mine then thanks
Thanks for that, but what unit are you referring to? Because with this one, it hasn't worked for me like that. I've had to ground, unground, and reground several times like Gene Simmons was saying. I also did search, which is how I knew to try and ground the wire, but also know every unit is different. I'll try grounding the wire after start up but I'm almost 100% positive I have,

I have the same one and got it at Best Buy the day after thanksgiving sale.
Rosairo i tried doing the relay thing and that wasn't working on this screen.
Kyle all i do is keep the wire not grounded then start my car. Then turn the radio on or dvd then ground the wire and wait about 5 or 10 seconds and it will go on. But if it still doesn't go on then take the wire off or unground it for about 10 seconds then ground the wire and wait just as long and it should go on.
That is what i do to make it work and i only use the e-brake ground wire not the remote or anything eles.
I have spent hours trying to get this thing to work and now i am good
Hey jw how are these units working?? I went to best buy to get the exact same unit like 30 minutes before it opened and the lines were just outragious i went back home to bed. Were yous waiitng in a long line to get it? and if so howlong.
19sunfire99- you'll prob hate me but I didn't wait in line at all. Went later that day and they were sold out, so my friend and I raised hell for two days and on Saturday I actually paid for it at half price and they just let me pick it up when shipment came in. And I think the sreen is clearer than all the other (even more expensive) units there, I'm happy with its quality.
It doesn't seem to work quite as easily as yours, Trev, but I have it grounded through a switch, and sort of flick it until it works. It's been working, just not instantly. I'm satisfied now though. Thanks for the inputs guys!
o wow must be nice lol i was gonan say i saw their was a limit of like 4 per store. I dindt feel like waiting in a line and then not getting what i wanted. HOw were you complainin? that they gave in?
sorry i should have linked to the post. Has one more thing in. Apparently some units..you have to toggle the switch on and off a few times..which would fix Kyles Problem. And those directions are for no specific unit really. They work on 90% of them.
As for trev...Seems theres more of a delay, which means you can just use a toggel switch to do that...
use a momentary switch. Push it in push it out and then push it in again. bingo.
My mom got in line on thanksgiving at 8 oclock and then waited till 5 in the morning when best buy opened so i met up with her at 3 in the morning and we were like the 40th people to get in.
But the first few people got there at like 4 or 5 in the afternoon on thanksgiving.
I don't know what to do to get it going instantly
ya seriusly not to thread jack but thats just nuts... like i said was there at 430 to get this and wiht a line of prob over 500 people i said screw that. Id wait to get in theo store prob an hour or 2 then an hour or 2 in line if they even had it.. IM still curious how u complained that they gave ni?
