Im installing a aftermarket deck in my 2000 Sunfire GT I have the metra wiring harness 70-2003, im gonna install an amp also and my deck has a blue/white wire that says system remote control and the wiring harness also has a blue/white and says amp turn-on do i connect those two together? if so will that turn my amp on and off with my deck? does the amp also have to connect to it? i dont have the monsoon system if that makes a difference, please help, thanks
honestly im not sure if you have to connect your HU's remote wire to the vehicle harness or not...but i always do in my installations just to be sure, and then splice in the remote wire for the amplifier, having 3 wires spliced together. just make sure you solder that connection.
if you need help, i have a full how-to guide, just email me, ill respond with it attatched.

yes ...conect those and your amp will ONLY be on when your deck is on...
Do I have to connect the amp to that wire as well? or just the wire from the deck to the harness? or do i have to have it connected the the harness and the deck and amp so i would have 3 wires? or do i not connect it to the factory harness and just put the wire to the amp?
Yes, you connect the remote wire from the factory harness into the new harness' remote turn on, then run another wire (splice) from it to the amp. The Remote wire sends a 12v signal to your amp from your deck when it is on, telling your amp to turn on. You dont not NEED to connect the factory harness' reemote wire to the new one, but you might as well. As long as you have a remote wire connected to your deck and then to your amp.

So if I hook up the remote wire to my amp that would work? so there is no need to connect it to the harness also? it just has to go from the deck directly to my amp?
its not much effort to just splice and solder 3 wires...if you cant do that, then honestly, you shouldnt be installing anything car audio related, no offense.

im fully capable to install this myself, i just don't want to solder 3 wires if its not needed, basically i dont want to do things that serve no purpose and is pointless, if i can go from the deck to the amp and it will work withough also soldering the wire from the harness, then why not do that what would be the point of soldering the 3rd wire? soldering the 3rd wire if not needed is like soldering an extra wire on every wire just for no reason
it doesn't matter.....i had my remote wire coming off the headunit running striaght to the amp and no problems for the 3 years i owned the car.
so you could hook the wire from the car to the harness if you want but i don't see what it will do, and it seems to be a waste of effort
