Rear 6x9 replacements?
Saturday, November 18, 2006 8:52 PM
I need to replace my 6x9s in the back. I want to hook them upto a amp for some good sound. I was looking around and found this setup, good bad?

Infinity Reference 6x9
Power Acoustik 2ch amp

I have never hooked up regular speakers to a amp, just subs. Any suggestions would be good. I am looking to spend around 100-200 max, and I know im not going to get the best ones for that... just looking for some good quality for that price range.

i bought infinity kappa setup for mine...i friggin LOVE the way they sound...and ive got a POS best buy "dual" amp (i got it for NOTHING...long story, not complaining for a free amp)...you'd be happier if you upgraded to the kappas but infinitys are definitley the way to go...ive got infinity subs too and they sound good...ive always been a die-hard infinity speaker fan.

Well, my parents are willing to buy the amp for x-mas for me. So I think I am going to go with it. It puts out 85watts RMS x2 channles and the speakers handled 100watts RMS so I figered that was the best choice for the price. I will go look up some info on the kappas

I was also wondering aboout my door speakers. I currently have some 4x6 Pioneers:

4x6s , Yes I know not the best choice but I had already purchased them

They say 20watts RMS and I was wondering if this amp would be to much to power? 40watts RMS, I am not sure if just 20watts over would hurt them to much?

Ok, I did some research and came up with this steup, some Alpine 6.5 componets in the front, and some Rockford Fosgate 6x9s in the back powered off a 75watt RMS 4 channle amp:

Rockford Fosgate Punch P1694C
Alpine SPR-17LS
Power Acoustik OV4-600

Sound like a sound investment? about $300 - $350 for it all?

And could anyone post some pics on how to fit the 6.5 in the doors? I saw in the post above you could make an adapter out of 5/8 partical board but the pic was gone. Any info how to do it would get great.

Anyone have some info on what materials are needed to make one and some instructions or something? Never made anything like this for the car.

Does that set-up above sound good? the one with the 6.5s and 6x9 w/ 4ch amp?
