I believe it's because they are a deep cycle, dry cell battery. And, if you run them down all the way all you have to do is charge it back up and go.

Not really true. Many use other brand batteries that are much better. But for the basic person they are fine. Your running very low wattage. You shouldn't have much dimming problems with only 600 watts.
I would suggest reading what was posted in
this thread.
The big 3 should help and is cheaper then a new battery.
The deep cycle part isn't really a major buying point for me with it(TONS AND TONS of cheaper Deep Cycles out there), its the fact that it is a dry cell so I can place it anywhere without a box, and unvented.

yeah you can stick it anywhere in any positions and if i drain it dry i just recharge it. with a standard battery if you drain it down and charge it back up your battery is now holding about half the power it had. do that again and your now down to 1/4 the power it originally had. now a days there are allot of good options out there.

My battery was not enough to power my 2400 watt amp and two 15s. The lights would cut out and the radio would shut off so I went to Advanced Auto Parts and bought an Optima Red Top. Although it was almost $200 my radio can be turned all the way up, my lights dont dim, and my car seems to put out more power when I accelerate.
Red top handle "system" just fine...... They handle it better then the stock Delco at least

I have a 1200 watt sony amp, 2 12" Audiobahn subs and a 1 farad cap. I bought an Optima yellow top because my old battery sucked and even without the cap and only the stock alternator, at idle my voltage never goes below 12 and cruising doesn't drop at all.

im only running a mono mtx 801d amp with 2 12's audiobahn and my radio still cuts out and turns off when i idle and bump the stereo. So far I have just a yellow top batt. I think my main problem is with the under drive pulley and the smaller alt pulley. Might need to do the big 3 and a higher amp alt. Anyone know more about this that can help and where to get the bigger alt.

WOW people... I have a Delco on its last legs, and underdrive pulley, and I see 0... 0 Dimming. Considering im running 2 amps, with a decent amount of power consumption, maybe some rewiring should be done ? a Big 3 ?

Cavie Freak, I did a bit of research before I bought my alternator in April of this year. I have a 200A alternator from Dom Iraggi. Very happy with it. Mechanics have laughed in my face when I've told them how much it puts out, saying, "that's not possible." But I've seen the numbers myself when I had a shop test it. It was a bit pricey, and I did need to use a slightly smaller belt. Check out my registry for what I'm running with it.
email me if you want his contact info.

Am I the only one who thinks that people who post the # of subs they have and what brand they are, instead of the ohm load on the amp and how much power the amp is actually putting out, are stupid? zz

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
I got one because I wanted a dry cell for autocrossing.

possibly. the reason the post that is because they do no know, because to me there is a big diffrence between not knowing something and being stupid.

thanks for all of your input.....i think i'm going to put off the battery until i get a job....or money after the holidays...
