see that bolt on the rop of the alt, you can put your ground wire there.
As for the power wire for the 2.4, i dont know, to bad you dont have a 2200, cause i have detailed DIY for that engine.
yeah i actually followed your thread untill i got to the power wire lol
well you just made my day.
Ill see if i took any pics of my buddies car when i did his 2.4, almost 6 months ago. I cant remember how i did it, i beileve i removed the alt in its entirety to get it to work.
just take off as much stuff around the alt as you can..or find someone with small hands, like a carny, lol

Not exactly a question about the Big 3, but....
What type of terminal conectors should I use to connect into the side terminals on my battery? Is there a specific size or type I should look for?
Also, If I have an Optima Yellow Top in my trunk can I just run a fused wire from the battery under the hood to the battery in the trunk or should I just put the yellow top under the hood?

use GM side post adapters from the auto parts store. then just use ring terminals on your wires.
with a battery in the rear, if you don't want to isolate it, then you need to run a 1/0awg cable that is fused on EACH END. within a foot of each battery.

anyone find that detailed how too for the 2200?
Is this mod only good for when you have a high power audio setup or would it be benificial for any car?
it would be beneficial for any car because it takes alot of strain off the alternator trying to power the batter. even if you have high power driving lights its a good idea
very good idea i have noticed big differences since i installed mine and now we sell them click my sig on the bottom for more info!
Who needs a sig?

Just take your alt off, its VERY easy! Just turn the belt tensioner counter clockwise with a long wrench to take tension off the belt. the belt will then come right off the pully. After that you just have 3 bolts to remove. look at diagram.... Bolt number 1 is easy, just use wratchet and 6" extension. I believe bolts are 13mm...or close...? bolt number 2 is simple too, remove with wratchet again and extension. Add your ground wire to this when you are reinstalling the alt. and bolt 3 is kinda tricky, Its located down between the 2 runners on your intake manifold. I used a wratchet > 6" extension > elbow > 6" entension > 13mm bit....tape them all together so they dont fall apart on you. You dont have to take this bolt all the way out, just loosen it a little bit. Then you can just slide the alt to the left a little and you will see a plug, just disconnect that. Then you will see a wire connected to the alt, just add your new wire to this same location, you dont even have to take the alt all the way out of the car. Reinstall everything reverse of how you took it off and you golden, dont forget to put the plug back on (I forgot this but was able to plug it in even with the alt installed again. and dont forget to add your ground wire to bolt #2. Really this write up might make it sound hard, but its simple. I just did it for my big 3. it was my first time taking an alt out and i did it with no problem. Just hit me up on AIM if you have any questions. z2fst4u24 is my username....
