need help with cd player

i moving speakers and cd player from 96 chevy caviler to a 2000 z24 and don't have books on any of them and in the 2000 the cd player that came with it is all mess up u have to turn it on maule and i think it was just riged in there speakers work sometimes. the 96 has a great system love it but would like to move any one think they might could help me out thanks

Um.... if you're trying to transfer from a 96 to a 2000, I don't believe there should be any problem. The speaker mounts didn't change. The radio won't have a different harness that I'm aware of. Just change all the wiring over.

yea the wiring for the cd players is were i'm having the trouble at the one in th 00 is got wire hanging and the one in the 96 has got a harnese on it. just wierd . sorry first time to try and install one.

It sounds like whoever did the 00 CD Player needs to be shot. I assume they cut the stock harness. It can be fixed, you can find a full radio wiring diagram here. Just go to GM and pick cavalier. Just extend the stock wires and buy the harness adapters for the stock side and HU side. I think Scosche makes them for like 8 bucks apiece. It sounds like you'll need to tap into a 12v ignition wire with the 00 also, since you have to turn it on manually. With the 12v ignition tap, the HU will turn on when your key is in ACC and when you turn the car on.
