Alright, I'm very new when it comes to wiring or anything like that. I have a set of underbodies that I do not want to put on my car (winter and gravel roads= not fun), so I was thinking about hooking them up behind my hot tub. I dont't think it matters, but it is the PlamsaGlow 2.1 million color set up. Everything is basically a simple plug and play for hooking up the tubes, controller, and display. But all I'm stumped on is getting power to it. The wires for power are 1 red and one black. The question I have is how to hook up these 2 wires into a normal outlet?
There is also a toggle switch that has 2 red wires(one with a 5a fuse) and one black wire. Where does this get wired into? Also is it neccessary for hookup, or is it just so it doesn't drain a car battery when it is hooked up?
Thanks to anyone who wants to help with this!! I have some free time this weekend and I want to start this project sometime this weekend, I'll post pics up when its done.
STOP before you hurt yourself or somebody!
Car electronics are DC, house hold are AC. If you plug those wires into an outlet you at min going to blow fuses or possibly start a fire. The only way you could do this is to by a AC/DC converter that the outputs are low enought to run the neons.
Don't try and ghetto rig it cause your going to end up hurting yourselve.
Convertors are easy to find. Go down to any Radio Shack and they'll have a couple to choose from. Get the smallest one they have because that kit won't draw much current.

Thats why I asked. I knew about Ac/dc Converters that you can use to plug AC things in your car, and I wanted to make sure that they could work the other way around. Thanks
Anybody install these onto a car before?? Where does the toggle switch need to be attached at?
What exactly does that toggle switch do? If you wanted to, you can hook it up to anything....
What I imagine it to control is the power for the neons (duh, makes sense). I also assume it has some sort of light (LED) on the toggle. The black wire goes to ground, the red wire w. the fuse goes to your converter, and the red wire w.o the fuse goes to the 12V wire off the neons. The black wire on the neons goes to a ground.
If you have the directions for the neons, double check that wiring, but that is how I would assume it gets wired.

Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
Also, does anybody know how to attach the wires to the AC/DC converter. The ones I have seen so far have an AC plug on one end and a DC cigarette adapter plug on the other. I have a Cigarette adapter that has a spot to pinch wires into, would this work to attach to the AC/DC converter or is there another way to do this??
If you can dismantle the cig plug on the AC/DC converter.
The center pin is power, the outer ring is ground.
Solder and heatshrink
Or --
Go to RadioShack and get a 12v output "wall wart" (is an AC/DC converter, kind of like a cellphone charger, but not really)
Use a multmeter to find the power/ground wires, splice and heatshrink.
Sorry for the multiple edits... got sidetracked before I finished this post...

Bought a AC/DC converter and hooked them up. Pics can be found here on the photos thread.
