I just bought a 1994 Cavalier and was going through the update, including a CD Player and things of that sort.


My problem is this: When I used the Harness I bought D&J Car Stereo, I connected everything up and it works. Then when I turn the Headlights on, everything from parklights to the headlights causes the CD player to shut off and it wont come back on until I turn the lights completely off again. What would cause this problem and how can I fix it?

The wierd thing is that its like the ground isnt strong enough to hold the dash lights and the CD player at the same time. The CD player works Just fine not a single problem until i turn the lights on.

the ground for the radio is bad and the lighting circuit is supplying ground. so when you the lights on the gound now becomes 12 volt and the radio shuts off.
Put a test light between the radio ground wire and chassis ground and when you turn the lights on see if it lights up.

i will check that tonight. If that is the problem what is the most simple solution.............Just grounding to the chassis???
