can some one whip me up a test tone for my alpine type r which is 23hz-500hz
and a test tone for my 5x7 type r components which are 35hz to 35khz
realmofexcursion.com....they have all kinds of test tones

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
but there isnt one that goes from from 35hz to 35khz and i dont want to blow my system cuz i dont have the right sine sweep
and they dont have the 23-500 hz
uh...wtf

ok so maybe i dont have any idea of what im doing, but thats what i want to find out, is what to do
ok first off..WHY do you think you need to play a 35hz tone on a set of 5x7's??
The numbers you listed, are just the freq. response of the speaker, a spec given by the manufacturer. Playing those tones through them, isn't going to do anything for you except probably damage them.
But to answer your question, here are your tones

to set the gains on my amps
lanman told me to use the 20-120 hz range for my sub amp
and a 50hz for my 4 channel amp
i havent done it yet, so if you have something else let me know
If your setting gains, you don't use a sweep, and you un-hook your speakers when you do it. So it doesn't matter WHAT speakers your using.
Use a 1khz tone for your highs, and like a 50hz tone for your subs

imo test tones are to check the system after the gains have been set, i always used em to make sure i wasnt bottoming out and to check for leaks in my boxes
to set the gains you need to unhook the speakers and/or subs and use a multimeter, not sure what you're lookin for at that point, but i know thats how u do it
and please remember, GAIN IS NOT A VOLUME CONTROL

you are somewhat correct.
after you un-hook your speakers, you use a multimeter and measure the voltage of your speaker outputs. Of course you have to have a signal going through at the time of measurement, so you use a test tone.
