I could get a system with 4 15" Rockford P1's hooked up to a 1600 watt amp w/ compacitor in a sealed box that runs at about 150 db's

Is this a good sounding system you think?

um

for a cav? might wanna make sure the box is laid out sp it will fit in your car first. Second, if you're gonna spend money for 4 15's, why not get 2 T1's or 2 T2's that will sound oh so much better? Third, the dB's won't transfer exactly from vehicle to vehicle. chances are you'll hit less, and you really shouldn't listen to it that loud

Hate to break it to you, but cavaliers are one of the poorer vehicles for SPL.
4-15s is great in theory, but you'll have problems putting them in a cavalier with proper airspace, without going with a wall. A CRX-style box is the only other way I can think of, and they don't seem to work great in our cars. We really only have ~7-8cuft to work with, which is not SPL-friendly at all.
Whichever way you look at it, 1600wrms will likely not get you anywhere near 150db in a cavalier. Using sealed boxes only hurts you even more for SPL.
Not trying to be a prick, but our cars just aren't great for SPL. We don't have the trunk size or volume to work with, and the transfer function on our cars seriously sucks compared to other cars (like CRXs and Explorers for example). With your setup, a goal of 140db is more realistic. To tell you the truth, 2 of those 15s in a good ported box is your best bet for SPL.

Are you a good carpenter? If so, I recommend building a subwoofer box from this site http://www.decware.com/newsite/speakers.htm

I built the "wicked one" about 4 years ago. With 2 bottom of the line Phoenix Gold subs and a Pioneer amp putting out maybe 400W at the most, I felt my eyeballs shake. That was when I first experienced good bass.

I have purchased an Audiobahn sub and amp (dons flameproof suit) and construction of a "deathbox" is underway.
