HU Advice, researched!

Ok...I currently have Pioneer Premier DEH-P680MP and am looking to upgrade to a newer unit and sell my old one.

Well I've never had a deck that wasn't from pioneer, so thats what i'm somewhat fond of, and I know that it usually comes down to what style you like best, but I wanted your input on these few HU's ive narrowed it down too.

First, the Pioneer Premier DEH-P780MP ...I've NEVER seen this deck in real life, so I don't know how it looks exactly..if anyone has any input on this...please tell me.

Second, the JVC KD-SH1000 , I have no experience with JVC in real life, except a few of their LOW end models..which were junk.

Third, the Kenwood KDC-X990 , a dude from my school has this deck and said that he likes it, better then his older clarion model...but it doesn't seem like hes to educated in car audio...just looks.

Finally...the one that I'm leading towards just because its seems like the headunit everyone has told me would be better, the Clarion DXZ865MP

Now, I know some people are going to say, "just go with what you like"...don't be that guy...i'm looking for serious responses on why one deck is better than the other.

My brand is kenwood. The KDC-X990 is the top of the line for kenwood. Not only does it look
good but, it has many features from the EQ to the DSP. You could definitely tweak your
system just from this head unit, especially if you hook it up with the excelon amps.
All the other head units look good also, I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them.

I just bought this last week.DEH-880 PRS and it sounds AMAZING!! I've honestly owned 5 different aftermarket head units and this one sounds the clearest.

I've looked at the Premier HUs and I think all of them look pretty appealling, looks and features included.
From looking at these other HUs, based purely on looks alone, it is a tossup between the Clarion and the Premier.

I would be willing to buy your P-680mp from you.

I got the same HU, I love it! I want to eventually get involved in SQ competitions. With this HU you can set your own EQ (32 bands of it!) and have TA. Also, it's got some cool features like the IPod, Satellite Radio ready, plays almost every format of CD you can put in it (since I make my own CDs) and the 5V pre-outs are nice too.

Some little things w. it are: color changing lights (between blue and white, you decide!) detachable face that almost every unit comes w. now, DSP, OEL display is really nice, you can even change the font on the display unit to any 3 pre-loaded ones.

All in all, I like it....a lot!

Email sent.

I think I'm going with the Clarion guys, 650 dollars is a bit steep, but...it has a stronger built-in amplifier, touch screen(which is REALLY appealling), and soo many options.

Alpine is my brand, so I can't help too much, but one of my friends has that Clarion one, and it's worth every penny IMO. Go for it.

Unless you step up to a Alpine DVD oriented unit "DVA "or flip screen.. Stick to JVC Arsenal or Pioneer Premier. NO Vanilla Pioneer or JVC, junk junk junk. I will also give you my personal opinion on Kenwood. Lots of features. MANY just usless gimmicks, but in all honesty out of all the installs we have gotten at my former shop of employment...... MANY MANY came back, they just do not have the rigid backbone/longevity that other units have, mix in the higher retail over Premier units and really the option is a little more clear.

I've had last year's model of the Clarion deck since it came out. It's a nice deck for the money. Check around online, I found mine for closer to 300. Had it in my Sunfire for a while. Everyone that saw it loved how it looked and it sounded great too. If you haven't yet, check out Alpine or Eclipse too. I got the Eclipse 7000 a couple of months ago and I don't think I could go back now.
