Hey guys, I got a JL 1000/1 Amp last night to power my W7.. and the low Ohm light keeps coming on wheneven I have the sub hooked up to the amp and it makes a high pitched squelching sound and the light flashes on.
it did this several times and so when I called the guy I got it from ( worked great in his car ) and tried to let him hear it and it worked.. so I was like ok I guess it works.. but then driving down the road it comes on again and when I unhooked the sub it stayed on till I turned the car off.. then it came on again when I tried to hook the sub back up.
the book said the light comes on
when the impedence of the speaker load connected to an amplifier is lower than the optimum load impedence range of the amplifier. When this light is on, a protection circuit engages and reduces the power output of the amplifier. The amber light also comes on when a short circuit is detected in the speaker wiring ( this can be a short between the positvie and negative speaker wires or between either speaker wire and the vehicle chasis )
Any ideas ?

Check for loose wiring between voice coils, loose connections anywhere. If it's a sporadic problem, that's more than likely the cause.
Check your ground as well.
Only a Single 3ohm voice coil guys.
he was running that sub off of a Bazooka 300 watt amp before, I think the Distortion ruined the voice coil. But that is just my guess, hard to trouble shoot over the internet.

i put a response to that in the photos forum, but it was only ran on that amp for 2 days or so hard till the BBQ, and when you said that was bad I kept the sub on the amp, but never turned the volume up.. besides im really starting to think its the amp since if you knock on it ( I was getting pissed lol so I hit it but not hard ) the amp started acting normal.
